A Card for Sandie`s Blog

Here`s a card I just finished, using Sandie`s own sketch over at her blog, I don`t usually use soft pastel colours, but I wanted to use vellum & my cuttlebug embossing folder, & this is the result...

It`s very hard to see in the scan, but I`ve used white vellum highlighted with pink ink, layered over a soft pink card, the flower stamp is an AL one & the sentiment is from a Collections plate. I decided to attach the vellum using staples to make it a bit different. Thanks for popping over.

A Card for Pernickety

Here`s my interpretation of this week`s sketch over at Pernickety`s, I don`t think I`ve ever used so many flowers on a card before, but there`s always a first time LOL. I`ve used white cs, the pp is from a DCWV stack (it has glitter on it) & I have stamped the "Happy birthday" using a clear stamp from a Kaiser set, & coloured using gel pens. Half way through making it I remembered it will be my SIL`s b`day in a week, so it already has a home...I hope she likes it.

What Goes Around...

I`ve been "tagged" by Cuchy, & here are the rules for this one:

1.- Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.

2.- Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog. Some random, some weird.

3.- Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

4.- Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here are the 7 facts about me:

1. I can speak, read & write both English & Spanish (though I do tend to forget Spanish words as I don`t use it very often)

2. I can not stand to feel stickiness, either on me, or on surfaces.

3. I`m a big "Doctor Who" fan (new series), I even got a "TARDIS" tin for my b`day from my DH & the boxed DVD set as well, which I have watched more times than I care to share here LOL (Thanks Darling)

4. I drink way too much coffee.

5. I`ve had the same thing for breakfast from my late teens, blackberry jam on toast & coffee.

6. I never thought I would have my own blog...ever.

7. I LOVE Spring, & flowers, even though I suffer from hay fever.

Now, I know the rules say I must tag 7 other people, but I don`t think I can come up with that many, so I`ll just tag Maevan, & hope she won`t mind too much. It is the first week of school holidays in our neck of the woods, so I haven`t been very creative, but on the up side, DD & I have been spending our days together, & talking, which makes a nice change from the "How was school today?" "Good, thanks"conversations LOL. I hope all is well in your part of the world, & as always, thanks for stopping by.

An Award

Last night I came home after a great day out, & found a comment by Lyn in my blog...Thank you Lyn, very sweet of you, but now I have to come up with 7 other bloggers who haven`t received this award. Hmmm, I don`t think I can come up with that many...

Here are the rules to the award:

1. The winner can put the logo on their blog.

2. Link the person you received the award from.

3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs

4. Put links of those blogs on yours.

5. Leave a messsage on the blogs of the people you nominated.

I`d like to present this award to Maevan, Cuchy, Godelieve & Dan, What can I say, I like to keep it global LOL. They are all bloggers who inspire me, just by sharing themselves & their beautiful works with the rest of blog-land, so this is my way of saying thanks for sharing. & don`t worry about linking back, I`m happy in the knowledge I`ve passed this on to some very deserving people. I`m only new to Blog-land, but I used to lurk in a few of these great blogs not knowing how to leave a comment, but visiting all the same. Have a great week, & keep on crafting.

Check This Out

Sorry I haven`t put up anything creative in a while, but I`ve come across this blog, & if you have the time, check it out, lots of inspiring storage ideas, & some great craft spaces. & don`t think I`ve been iddle, I have been working on my Inkurable Stampers TH swap, but I can`t share just yet...(unwritten rules of swapping LOL)...but I will share the card I made for Tarisota. It had to be a Thank you card, other than that it was up to you, & I chose to use K&Co pp, Hero Arts clear stamps (owl, which I stamped on shrink plastic,& tree), ribbon & brads. Thanks for visiting, & have a great Sunday wherever you are.

I Like Working with Sketches

Here`s a quick card I made this evening, using Sandie`s sketch over at her blog, thanks Sandie. I used up some pps from my scrap stash...I inked all the edges with red ink to unify the look, & added the computer-generated sentiment, I`m very happy with it. Another thing I`m very happy about is the fact that I found some Tim Holtz stamps yesterday, & they are here with me, all ready for me to play with, all thanks to my CC & a very helpful Karen over at Kasmos Kreationz , so now I too can join in the swap over at Inkurable Stampers TT4N, & thanks for stopping by.

A Card to Share

Here`s my take on the sketch over at Pernickety`s for this week. Torn paper flower, NO bling & some sewing, check, check & check.
I`ve used left over bits, so that`s a big plus, & although it`s hard to see from my scan, I love the texture & dimention added by scrunching & tearing up the pps. Thanks for visiting, now I better get some dinner started LOL.

Tim Holtz ATC Swap

Sarah, over at Inkurable Stampers is hosting a Tim Holtz stamps ATC swap, if you`d like to take part, check out the link...
Also, Darkroom Door are hosting a Photobooth swap over in their blog, & while you`re there check out what T!m has been up to with those photobooth images...

& over at Pernickety`s you`ll find a new card sketch to work with this week...better get out your sewing machines LOL. B4N, & as always, thanks for stopping by.

I`ve Been Playing with Men...

I thought that title would sound interesting...LOL. I`ve been a busy bee, making one card for a competition over at Tarisota, & two ATCs for Inkurable Stampers monthly challenge. I don`t know if I can share the card, but I will share the ATCs... "Out of the Shadows" was made using a Crafty Individual`s image stamped with Versafine Sepia ink & covered with clear embossing powder layered over a strip of cb embossed card covered with pewter embossing powder, & the base has also been inked around the edges & coated with clear embossing powder, I added the word "Hope"(from a TT clear stamp set) & the punched out clock hands. It`s a pity that with scanning all the dimention is lost, & also anything shiny doesn`t show up well at all, this is actually my favourite of the two. With the other ATC, I covered a playing card with a page out of an old book, I inked & embossed the edges, then stamped the "it`s all about ME" from a Kaiser set of clear stamps with Stazon ink (in royal purple) & I stamped & cut out the man image from an "Oxford Impressions" plate & stamped the portion of the "all about me" stamp & layered it on to the card & covered the phrase with DM, adding a couple of tiny hearts (also covered with DM)... I am happy with both men LOL.

DarkRoom Door Swap

Ok, here are the beautiful ATCs I received as returns in the first ever Darkroom Door swap. Thank you to all who took part, there`s lots of inspiration from all around the world!!! The first one is all the way from Ireland, by Evonne R(with the word"Dream"), next up is Sue B (with the butterflies) & then there`s Barb C`s (the girl with the crown). Next we have Jenene E (with the word "Magical") followed by Kaeren S (with the ribbon) & Lyn S (with the butterfly)

Next is Damaris M from the USA(with the blue b`ground & the butterflies) followed by Helen F (with the Venice stamp) & last but not least is mine. There were 24 artist who took part in the ATC swap, & you can see the rest of the ATCs (in better detail) in the gallery over at DRD, & while you`re there check out the Card swap gallery as well, just goes to show how versatile the DRD stamps are. A big thank you to Rachel Greig for hosting this swap, may it be the first of many. Thanks for stopping by.

Kicked Out Already

First round of the competition, & I`m out already...Oh well, can`t say I`m that surprised, though I was hoping to at least make it through to the next round. At least I got a beautiful LO out of it, & a technique I hadn`t tried before. DH (bless him) was not impressed, & he`s saying all kinds of sweet things (& some not so sweet LOL) to try to help my (in his mind) bruised ego, but I`m being philosophical about it, I can`t win Everything LOL... I do intend to follow the competition, do the challenges & vote for the girls that are still in it, so watch this space...

Don`t Fall Off Your Chairs...

LOL, I said I`d be back later...This a new card I made this morning using the sketch over at Pernickety`s, & that cute little boy is my youngest brother (the card is for his birthday) so this challenge was just right. I used BB cs, staples, brads & the usual DS tape.

The next card is for a friend`s housewarming, using those yummy tree stamps I got at Scraptacular a few weeks back, some Adirondak ink, ribbons, Collections heart & words, & an old button sticker I`ve had in my stash for...way too long. I received my beautiful ATC returns for the DarkRoom Door swap yesterday, but I`ll wait until the end of the week to show them off in here, as I don`t want to spoil the surprise for anyone who might occassionally come by my blog LOL. Enjoy the rest of your day, & thanks for visiting.

Good Intentions

Well, all the good intentions I had of taking part in SBT50 CC went out the window...I only managed 2 cards, but I`m happy with both of them. The challenge was to get out the pencils/crayons & do some colouring, so I used a couple of images from a swap, & used my watercolour pencils, highlighting some of the images with DM(Dimentional Magic) I haven`t used my pencils for quite a while so I was very pleased with my self. I`ll be back later with another card.

Guess Who Won?

I`m very happy to say I won a Fiskers punch over at Pernickety`s Thank you Marie, you`ve made my day. There`s a new sketch to work with this week, but there`s a catch...go check it out, you know you want to LOL. Have a great day, & thanks for stopping by.

Another Card

Here`s another card I`ve just finished using the sketch from Pernickety, & using some left-overs from the LO I did yesterday, plus a couple of Collections bits & pieces (heart & circle used for the tag) & a bit of inked & chalked Cuttlebug embossed b`ground. I love it when I can use up scraps, so I don`t have to keep them in my scrap boxes (I have 3, all full LOL) I had to hand-write "Happy Father`s day" as I did it in Spanish. I should be doing the challenges for the SBT50 CC, but I`ll have to squeeze them in between tonight & Monday sometime, luckily we get until midnight Monday to upload to the gallery. Have a great weekend.

First LO for the Competition

After a couple of frustrating hours spent swearing profusely under my breath, I finally got the scanner to play nice & scan the LO I`ve just submitted to the SYTYCS competition. They wanted to see hand-cutting of pp, edge distressing, layering, use of white/negative space, texture, non-standard size photos, & clustering. I think I`ve achieved all of the criteria...the only bit I found difficult was the negative space, but I`m happy with how the LO turned out, so if nothing else comes of me taking part in the comp, at least I have one more LO to add to our albums. I almost forgot that SBT50 has their CC on this weekend. Check out their challenges if you`re looking for some inspiration & a bit of fun, thanks for stopping by, & I wish you a great weekend, & a happy father`s day to the father/s in your life. Adios amigos e amigas

A Quiet Evening

DD & I had a bit of time last night, & after reading Sandie`s blog I checked out the Pernickety blog & copied out the sketch & both DD & I had a go with it, I really like the way hers turned out, all her own ideas, & it only took her 1 hour, where as I changed colours a few times & then some LOL. Anyway, I do enjoy working with a sketch, & the fact that there`s a chance to win a great Fiskars punch makes it even better...so thanks Sandie & Marie.
Here are our entries,DD used black& hot pink(her favourite colour) BB cs, some embroidery floss & a metal heart(that I didn`t know I had LOL)& I`ve used BB cs, some SR pp, some sheer ribbon, a bit of embossed paper, embroidery floss, a Collections tag & 2 hearts, as well as ink, brads & ds tape to hold it all in place. Make sure you check out Pernickety for some more sketches.

First Day of Spring

It`s the first day of spring in our part of the world...I love spring, with all it`s newly formed blooms, lots of chirping birds, cool sunny (if blowy)weather. I had hoped for a more productive/creative weekend, but we had some family commitments to take care of...still, I did try to take part in Scraptacuar`s CC, but our computer did not let me do the live chat thing. Still, I`m happy to report that I did get one of the challenges done...Challenge #2, to do an LO (Lay-out)using the colours blue & green + one other colour (I used red) The photos were taken by DH during our stay in Sydney a couple of weeks back, & they are some of my favoutite photos...There was also a sketch challenge, as well as a challenge to use something from your stash that was really old & daggy (I would have used some flower die cuts or some Sesame street paper that I bought 5 years ago LOL) The intentions were good, but I think the deadline of Sunday night just wasn`t long enough for me. I`m happy I got at least one challenge done...now I better get back to tidying up our wardrobe (I was only going to do my woollens, but one thing led to another, & now I have most of my clothes & ALL of DH`s in a big pile on the floor!) I hope everyone else had an enjoyable weekend, thanks for visiting, & don`t forget to take your Zyrtec LOL
